Our Trucks.
We do everything. To ensure particularly low overall costs.
Low costs. Right from the outset and throughout the truck’s entire useful life. With innovative, fuel-saving technology, low repair and maintenance costs, high residual values and attractive leasing and financing conditions which also contribute to the vehicle’s efficiency.
Achieving low operating costs with a focus on reduced fuel consumption is the first pillar of RoadEfficiency – and a promise we have continued to keep over the years. For example as the first manufacturer to locally introduce the fuel-efficient Euro V engines as a standard model on our on-highway truck tractors. In short, innovative technology that has continued to set new standards.

Fuel-saving technology.
With the new OM 471 the range now features an even more economical engine.
Other contributing factors to the low fuel consumption include the optimised 12-speed transmission, the improved shift strategy and Predictive Powertrain Control*. New, intelligent auxiliary consumers and honed aerodynamics also play a role. In conjunction with the optimised powertrain and the new OM 471 engine, fuel savings of up to 6% are achieved.in comparison with its predecessor.

Predictive Powertrain Control.
Topography-oriented driving style.
Predictive Powertrain Control* uses digital 3D road maps and GPS information to generate an electronic horizon which is employed to optimise shift points, gear selection and the set cruise control speed in anticipatory mode. In this way, a driving style adapted to the given topography which will generally be beyond the capabilities even of experienced drivers can be integrated into the automated system, resulting in additional fuel savings of up to 5%.
* Market Specific.

FleetBoard analysis.
The system helps promote a reduced-consumption, reduced-wear driving style. To this end, it records and analyses technical data from the truck. The driver’s style of driving is assessed on the basis of this data and a corresponding mark is awarded. This allows objective assessment and individual driver training. FleetBoard Performance Analysis* also ensures that the driver continues to adhere to the reduced-consumption driving style learned during Mercedes-Benz EcoTraining. This can result in long-term fuel savings of up to 15%.
We do everything. For a particularly high level of safety.
Reaching the destination safely – with the support of assistance and safety systems which actively ease the burden on the driver, help protect the vehicle and its cargo and so contribute to greater cost-effectiveness. On every trip.

This is the second pillar of RoadEfficiency: trucks that are very safe are not just an important development for all road users. They are also more efficient, because accident-related downtime is a much rarer occurrence. This is why we have been focusing for over 45 years now on developing innovative safety systems.
This has included the introduction of ABS and ASR, the electronic braking system, Lane Keeping Assist, Stability Control Assist and Active Brake Assist.
With the enhanced Active Brake Assist * this safety system provides additional support for the driver where there is a risk of collision, including with pedestrians – we are continuing our pioneering work and doing all that we can to ensure that you arrive safely and efficiently. Not just on the motorway but in urban areas too.

Safety. It’s in our DNA. Always has been.
Setting the safety benchmark. It’s where we came from, it’s where we are today. From the brand that produced the world’s first vehicle with brakes on all wheels in 1924, to the first to fit ABS as standard on a truck in 1992.

Note: Sideguard Assist is only available for LHD vehicles.
Active Brake Assist 4*.
The fourth generation of the system assists the driver** by carrying out a full brake application in response to stationary and moving objects and partial braking in response to pedestrians in motion; in this way, it can reduce the severity of accidents or even prevent them completely.
* Optional equipment.
** Under optimal conditions and within system limits.
Further safety systems.
Mercedes-Benz employs many safety and assistance systems to reduce risks and ease the burden on the driver. Alongside the Electronic Braking System with ABS, ASR, Brake Assist, hill holder and Active Brake Assist, the Stability Control Assist system, Lane Keeping Assist and Attention Assist also contribute to the high level of safety.
We do everything. To maximise use.
Intelligent vehicle networking and comprehensive service for maximised availability and use. Or in other words: for even more efficiency.
Maximised use is the third pillar of RoadEfficiency. And key factors here are inherently reliable, high-quality trucks and technical innovations. Around 5 years ago, for example, we introduced flexible service intervals based on usage. In addition we offer a national network of workshops, Service24h, comprehensive FleetBoard services and Mercedes-Benz Service Contracts to suit your needs.
Developments in the fields of telematics and connectivity have, in turn, allowed further far-reaching improvements. Services which increase vehicle use and make our trucks even more efficient. Watch out for the new service innovation from Mercedes-Benz Trucks on the road to even greater efficiency. Coming soon.
